Andrew Longhurst

Assistant Coach

Bio

Andrew Longhurst is in his first year as an Assistant Soccer Coach at Hampden-Sydney College during 2023-24. He had most recently served as Men’s Soccer Assistant Coach at Earlham (IN) College, since 2022.
 
During his lone season with the Quakers, he helped the team win three more games than the previous season. He played a part in planning team practices, individual instruction, game plans, and game management. In addition, to his on-the-field duties, Andrew developed academic plans and strategies for his student-athletes and scouted opponents to prepare scouting reports.

Prior to Earlham, Longhurst spent two years at his alma mater, the University of Maine at Farmington. He went straight from the field into the coaching ranks, assisting with practices, games, scouting, and recruiting. He coached both the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Rookie of the Year and a First Team All-Conference goalie in 2021 while helping the team reach its first NAC championship game since 2003.

A native of Middletown, Delaware, Andrew is a 2020 graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Economics. He was a four-year member of the men’s soccer team, earning Second Team All-Conference honors in 2017 and 2018, and Defensive Player of the Year to go along with First Team All-Conference honors in 2019.

Yugo Suzuki

Assistant Coach

Bio

Yugo Suzuki is in his first year as an Assistant Soccer Coach at Hampden-Sydney College during 2023-24. He had last served as a Student Assistant at Virginia Commonwealth University since January.

At VCU, Yugo worked with staff to organize, plan, and prepare practice sessions and assisted with film after games and practices. He also played a hand in getting the equipment ready for practices and games.

While at VCU, Suzuki also was a coach at Own Touch in Richmond, a position he still currently holds. He helps prepare and manage summer camps, as well as middle and high school sessions. In addition, Yugo is responsible for training and shadowing new staff.

A native of Midlothian, Virginia, Yugo is a 2023 graduate of VCU, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Supply Chain Management & Analytics. While at VCU he was a four-year member of the soccer team, playing eight career games for the Rams, making two starts.
